Italian meat sauce, or “ragù alla Bolognese,” is a classic Italian dish renowned for its rich, deep flavors and hearty texture. This savory sauce is a staple in Italian cuisine and is the foundation for many beloved dishes, from pasta to lasagna.
Ingredients
½ pound Ground beef
¼ pound Ground pork
1 Onion, small, finely chopped
1 clove Garlic, minced
1 Carrot, finely diced
1 Celery stalk, finely diced
1 tbsp Olive oil
1 cup crushed tomatoes
1 tbsp tomato paste
½ cup red wine
½ cup beef broth
1 Bay leaf
1 tsp Italian Herb seasoning.
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1.Heat olive oil in a pot and sauté onion, carrot, and celery until soft.
2.Add garlic and cook for another minute.
3.Add ground beef and pork and cook until browned.
4.Deglaze the pot with wine and reduce it by half. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, broth, bay leaf, and Italian herb seasoning.
5.Simmer on low heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
6.Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over pasta.
