Glazed Pigs in a Blanket recipe

by Bity L

Glazed pigs in a blanket are an irresistible twist on a classic party favorite, offering a delightful combination of savory and sweet that’s sure to be a hit at any gathering. This innovative recipe takes the traditional pigs in a blanket—mini sausages wrapped in flaky pastry—and elevates them with a sweet, sticky glaze that adds flavor and sophistication. Whether you’re hosting a game day party, a holiday celebration, or a casual get-together, these glazed pigs in a blanket will quickly become a crowd-pleaser. This is a recipe that I love to make over and over again because it puts together very rapidly, and it’s so delicious as a snack or appetizer.

The foundation of this dish is the same as the classic version: small sausages or cocktail weenies wrapped in buttery, flaky crescent roll dough. The dough is cut into strips and wrapped around the sausages, creating a golden, savory exterior that crisps up beautifully during baking.

The real magic happens with the glaze, brushed over the pigs in a blanket before baking. This sweet and savory glaze typically combines honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and soy or Worcestershire sauce. The result is a glossy, caramelized coating that adds a delicious depth of flavor and a slightly sticky, finger-licking finish.

To prepare, simply wrap the sausages in dough, place them on a baking sheet, and brush the glaze over the tops before baking. As they cook, the glaze caramelizes, creating a beautiful, shiny finish that enhances the flavor of the pastry and sausage. These glazed pigs in a blanket are best enjoyed warm, right out of the oven, when the glaze is at its stickiest and most flavorful.

Perfect for dipping in a variety of sauces or served on their own, glazed pigs in a blanket are a fun and festive twist on a classic appetizer. They are a must-try for any occasion where great food and good company come together
